Cool and Wet Year – How did Strip-Till Do?
This last year was one most growers do not want to repeat because of the lack of sunshine and heat to grow top notch corn. The Orthman researchers teamed up with 8 Seed Corn companies to put 4 of each of their best for the Platte Valley conditions in 4 row trials side-by-side. The conditions were not conducive to top corn growing in 2008. But we still wanted to report what we harvested to give you a run down on the year with top quality corn hybrids in strip-till irrigated conditions.
Please read the file and see for yourself. Flooding, coolness, some weed pressures, loads of rain all limited corn yields.
May next year (2009) be a bumper year for you all!
