Comparison of Roots in Tillage Study
As you look at these roots from a Pioneer hybrid, these exemplify the pronounced improvement in root mass, length, and number with third year strip till compared to second year No-Till. Both received ‘In-Furrow’ same amount of fertilizer at planting. Another tell-tale sign that strip-till is a benefit and will be of help to that early growth. Strip-till plant is on the left side of the image, no-till on the right, planted within 30 minutes of each other.
