January Snow on Idaho Fields – Strip-Till is at Work!
Even with snow blanketing the landscape from the Intermountain West to the Eastern CornBelt, we know for those lucky souls that got some Strip-Tilling done last fall, the soil conditions will be super come planting time this 2010 season. Here in the Blackfoot, ID area this field to be sugar beets for 2010 will be everything this growers wants for his planting. We know strip-till offers great gains in moisture absorption when the snow melts and seeps into the ground to fill the lower portions of the soil profile that feeds the sugar beet taproot late in the season.
